Mercedes-Benz Edmonton West was a proud sponsor at the Richard John Evans Memorial Golf Tournament which was recently held on Wednesday July 20, 2016 for the Children’s Wish Foundation. The event was held at the Belvedere Golf and Country Club located in Sherwood Park, Alberta.
The event was founded by and is hosted by John Evans and Brenda Evans, father and mother of Richard John Evans, for whom the event is named, and their late son who was lost to cancer. John and Brenda have a personal interest in Children’s Wish Foundation because it grants the wishes of seriously and terminally ill children. The tournament helps raise money to pay for the expenses of those wishes. Funds from the various events held for the foundation go to the local community and children. No one is turned away, and the wishes can range from local activities, such as a private playground for kids who can’t play at traditional parks to trips around the world. Professional organizers coordinate all of the details of each wish to ensure a memorable time for the child.

The golf tournament features a continental breakfast and traditional golf game with special activities held at most of the holes. Every guest receives a prize, and a silent auction is held where people can win even more prizes. Participants bid on everything from an autographed football and Oilers jersey to a locker room tour and limo and restaurant package.
